Millmead Optical Group is delighted to announce that we have recently been awarded a Gold Accreditation by Investors in People, the community interest organisation that represents over 15,000 companies in 75 countries throughout the world.
The accreditation is awarded to companies who have clear policies in place to make work better for all their staff. We underwent a series of surveys and interviews across all company departments and we have just received confirmation that we have been placed within the top 20% of all Organisations assessed – those who achieve the Gold Accreditation.
Gemma Heston, Millmead Optical Group’s HR manager, said: “As an organisation, we have been huge advocates of the Investors in People Award since 2012 and are extremely proud to have maintained a gold standard rating since 2015. This latest announcement is even more rewarding for us as a group, thanks to IIP’s ever more stringent qualifying criteria, as well as the wider context of the last two years, in which many small- and medium-sized businesses have faced a whole range of additional challenges and staffing concerns. We are delighted that our hard work in making work better has been given this recognition.”
Commenting on the award, Millmead’s CEO James Conway said: On average we spend roughly 80,000 hours of our lives at work so it is critically important to ensure that our own working environment offers more than just somewhere to receive a monthly pay-check We believe that the success of any organisation begins and ends with its people. If we make work better for everyone, we end up with a happier, healthier work environment where individuals can thrive and our business can grow, which itself allows us to offer employment to more and more people. This prestigious award also comes at a time when we are already investing heavily in our staff working environment as well as the environment at large. Our new Sustainability Strategy places an emphasis on the production of 100% recycled products here in our Liverpool Factory. We feel that this simultaneous investment in both our staff and a more Sustainable future is a natural and exciting partnership for the future of our organisation. We shall be displaying our Gold Award in our boardroom with a great deal of pride.”
Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors in People, said: “We’d like to congratulate Millmead Optical Group. Gold accreditation on ‘We invest in people’ is a fantastic effort for any organisation, and places Millmead in fine company with a host of organisations that understand the value of people.”
